We might not know if blonde penguins have more fun, but they certainly stand out. Within a sea of black and white conspecifics, a rare “washed-out” blonde penguin can easily be spotted.

While it looks like this penguin is waddling around with a bleached tuxedo, researchers explain that this “blonde” penguin most likely has a condition called leucism (or Leukism) — a genetic condition that dilutes the pigment in penguins’ feathers.
