Monaco to Host an Ecosystem of Ocean All-Stars at BLUE 2015 Prior to COP 21

The BLUE Ocean Film Festival & Conservation Summit is coming up in Monaco November 7-9, and Mission Blue founder Dr. Sylvia Earle will be a keynote speaker!

Founded in 2009, BLUE has become internationally renowned for its unique ability to inspire public passion for ocean conservation and spark important discussions among world leaders in ocean science, conservation and exploration. It has since become a major international platform for professional development among industry leaders, students, artists, and marine enthusiasts. Advanced ocean technologies are showcased in concert with inspiring films, celebrity appearances, and an amazing and diverse collection of other related venues. A Spectacular Week of Film (and Ocean!) Appreciation Concludes at the Blue Ocean Film Festival

A remarkable spirit of cooperation and mutual support pervaded the Blue Ocean Film Festival this year as the tightly-knit ocean community came together and shared not only films, but visions for more ambitious ocean conservation in the future. Support of marine sanctuaries was omnipresent among the gathered filmmakers, explorers, politicians and other notables. The festival, which alternates between St. Petersburg, Florida and Monaco, is much more than a world-class film festival: it is an epicenter of the ocean conservation dialogue that grows in strength with each succeeding event. UN Thanks Samoans with BLUE On Tour Film Festival

Yesterday, the United Nations kicked off a four-day film festival at the National University of Samoa called BLUE On Tour as a special gift to the Samoan people for hosting the upcoming Third International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS). In partnership with the US-based BLUE Ocean Film Festival and the National University of Samoa, the UN selected a variety of films for BLUE On Tour that are sure to appeal to a diverse audience with topics surrounding ocean and climate change issues.
“We are pleased to support this unique initiative between BLUE and the National University of Samoa,” says Christian Clark, UN Spokesperson for the SIDS Conference. “Media has the power to catalyze important discussions.
