Dr. Sebastian Troëng was Senior Vice President for the Americas Field Division at Conservation International during his time on the Hope Spot Council, and is based in Bogotá, Colombia. Dr. Troëng holds a Master’s degree in marine environmental protection from the University of Wales and a Doctoral degree in animal zoology from Lund University, Sweden. He has worked on conservation and development issues for over 20 years, including in Latin America, Asia, the Pacific Islands, Europe and the USA. Sebastian has published extensively on conservation and the economic benefits of ecosystems. In 2010, Sebastian was named a “40-under-40 International Development Leader” in Washington, D.C. He enjoys being over and under the water to observe submarine vistas, diverse and abundant ocean life, and engage with the human communities who depend on healthy ecosystems.
