From the field — In full scuba gear, we roll off a small open, outboard-powered boat into the clear water. We’re in a shallow bay near the southern tip of Baja California, in the middle of the Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park.

It took 19 days in the northern Bahamas in the dead of winter to capture this amazing image of a 14-foot male hammerhead shark.
