Legendary Shark Lady, Dr. Eugenie Clark, passed on last week after a long battle with cancer at the age of 92. She was a pioneer for women in marine science who inspired millions with her boundless enthusiasm for the ocean and its critters, especially sharks.
“When I was nine years old,” Genie said, “my mother took me every Saturday to the New York Aquarium at Battery Park, and I just was crazy about the fish. In the back of the aquarium, there was a big tank with some sharks inside. I used to put my face up against the glass and imagine that I was underwater and swimming with them.
